The School Board voted on two modular double classrooms to be installed behind KDHS for a TOTAL cost of $181,459. This purchase was approved by the Board. The modulars will provide four classrooms for additional electives for the students. SETRC felt this was certainly worthwhile. After the Board approved the purchase…oh! we need ADA compliant ramps at $23,150, and although it was initially thought that the electricity could be run in-house, come to find out, some regulations must be met that prohibits this, so a contractor is being paid around $120,000 and, well, these classrooms are going to end up costing between $350,000 and $400,000. We questioned this at the 8/21 Board meeting and Ms. Denton advised this is being done in phases! One of our members asked that the bottom line be presented in the beginning to the public and the Board, so there is a chance to research other alternatives.
